Region: Gevrey Chambertin – Burgundy, FRA
Varieties: Pinot Noir
Most of the wines of Gevrey-Chambertin are renowned for their deep colour and firm tannin structure. Yet the wines of the Griotte Grand Cru are sought after for their consistently delightful aromatic qualities.
Laurent Ponsot’s Griottes-Chambertin captures the essence of this small vineyard. Delicate notes of ripe raspberry, blackberry and sour cherry are laced with aromas and flavours of liquorice and rose petals in this supple wine framed by rough-silk textured tannins and a firm fine acid structure. This is just approaching a lovely place in its evolution so enjoy yourself.
