ArPepe are one of the premier producers of Valtellina, the mountainous sub region of Lombardy that borders Switzerland in Italy’s North West. Here, the Chiavennasca grape, which is the local name for Nebbiolo, thrives, and produces a savoury, ethereal expression of the grape we know and love. The 50 year-old vineyards are located between 350-400 metres above sea level and sit on a solid seat of granite. The grapes see a long but gentle maceration before being pressed into big old chestnut casks. Savoury spice, mineral texture and a sniff of Alpine air make this wine a must-stop on any Nebbiolo lover’s wine journey.
