Region: Cahors, FRA
From a winemaking perspective, grapes are sorted when they join the cellar. Each plot is vinified separately, with gentle pumping over to keep a harmonious structure. Wine is aged for 18 to 24 months in old oak. An outstanding wine showing plenty of vibrancy still for its age. Acidity and oak balance well maintained. Old vintages from Gamot are bucket list wines. We are very fortunate we have tried a few old vintages and we remain amazed by the ability of Clos de Gamot wines to age and transform over the years.
Ripe blackberries, prunes, black cherries, blueberries as well as a subtle fresh and vibrant earthiness. Very elegant and vibrant after years of ageing in bottle. This wine has smooth fine tannins, and great acidity keeping the wine together and allowing it to age still for a few years. This wine shows both structure and finesse, the length is incredible. This is for us another example of Clos de Gamot greatness, a masterpiece.
