Place: Pyrenees, VIC
Variety: Sangiovese, Nebbiolo
Latta Vino is the experimental second-label of Owen Latta of Eastern Peake. The fruit is sourced from vineyards run by old family friends and relative in the regions surrounding the Latta family’s property in Coghills Creek. Like Eastern Peake, the fruit is sustainably grown and - except for the occasional small addition of SO2 at bottling - the wines are made without additions.
The Tranquil first rolled out back in 2014, a sangiovese rosé-styled wine, over the years it’s been all nebbiolo as a rosé. Now Owen's settled on both. They really complement each other so well, especially the 2021. A definite, how-you-say, banger.Made in a number of different batches, whole bunch pressed, de-stemmed to press, barrel ferments tank ferments. Left to rest for months on lees, racked then bottled.
