Three wines that are light, pretty and ooze an easygoing nature that makes them approachable in any setting.

2023 Bruno Lafon 'Collette' Chardonnay Languedoc, France

From the same Bruno Lafon that makes some of Burgundy’s most revered wines from Domaine Comtes Lafon in Meursault comes an eminently guzzleable and perfect midweek chardonnay. We can’t all afford the starting prices of his $250/bottle Meursault, but we can enjoy his approachable and expressive chardonnay from the Languedoc.

2022 Chateau La Sable Rose Luberon, France

Château la Sable is nestled in the southwest corner of the Luberon national park, 30km north of Aix-en-Provence and 70km southeast of Avignon. The property is 14ha comprising vines, olive trees, and ancient pines and oaks, with 10ha under vine. This is everything we want in rosé: gastronomic, fleshy, moreish and versatile. A harbinger of spring.

2022 Castelmaure 'La Buvette' Grenache/Carignan Languedoc, France

Castelmaure is a 102-year-old co-op based in rocky Corbières in France’s southwest. They make unfussed, guzzleable wine from well-farmed plots around the region and have cultivated long-term relationships with many of their intergenerational farmers. This is 60% grenache, 40% carignan, both hand-picked and carbonic macerated for a plush, jubey rouge that is best drunk slightly chilled with something salty and fatty—as you would in the 11th!
